total mood switch but does anyone notice that pale or white makeup artists always cover their lips in foundation. is there a reason for that?
#like nikkitutorials#like she makes it work in the end but she has such a nice lip colour and then she just looks casket ready for a little bit#I’m not trying to be rude I swear 😭 idk if there’s a reason for it

My favourite headcanon about battison, that's really just canon, is that this man took the time to do his waterline before going out as Batman.
He probably sat watching a 10 minute make-up tutorial on YouTube and perfecting the ability to put it on quickly and correctly before rushing off to fight crime. I'm picturing something like:
Alfred: Going out, Master Bruce?
Bruce: [in his bat-suit, sans the cowl, trying to hide the Nikkitutorials video on the bat-computer] Uh... In a minute...
*'Something In The Way' playing on full blast in the background*
Alfred: [Tired™] Of course, sir.

I think the increasing popularity of “no makeup makeup” is far more insidious both as an idea and marketing strategy than the popularity of full glam makeup ever has been because at least when doing full glam makeup for 8 am classes was the move in 2016 it was artistic and creative and trying to obviously create a look that can not be achieved by bare face. With the “no makeup makeup” trend it’s doing a full face of makeup to look minimally different but those minimal differences are so ingrained into the concept of how you think you should look that you feel unable to leave the house without it. I don’t know if I’m even wording this correctly but as someone who works in cosmetics I feel like there is a drastic difference between putting on a full face of makeup that is obviously there and you’ve got a cut crease and winged out liner vs using makeup as a way to make your face look naturally flawless and to a certain extent the social media influence of no makeup makeup has affected teen girls in the same way that plastic surgery does, it makes you believe that those tiktok influencers really might just have a naturally tanned, slim face with cute freckles and a babydoll nose and long brown eyelashes. Like no 13 year old is going to look at a photo of nikkitutorials in full glam and go “yes her face looks like that when she wakes up. She was born with gold eyelids and red lips” but they might look at an influencer who does “no makeup makeup and think “she looks naturally flawless. Why can’t I look like that?” And to another extent the idea of no makeup makeup reinforces the idea that a woman’s bare face is not to be shown to the public. Like in order to be deemed “acceptable” to the public you have to maintain the illusion of wearing no makeup while simultaneously wearing a full face of makeup. I also think this goes hand in hand with the rise in insanely elaborate “skincare” and “nighttime/morning” routines that involve a toner, a serum, an under eye cream, an anti wrinkle cream, a face mask, etc etc etc when the reality is (and any dermatologist will tell you this) that the more products you use, the more damage you do to your skin barrier and the best things you can do for your skin is 1. Wash your face 2. Use moisturizer + sunscreen and maybe if you want to use an anti aging cream like something with niacinamide or vitamin c that’s fine. Most acne is hormonal anyway so using forty products every day and night isn’t going to clear up chronic acne. Anyway I just was thinking about this because I too have fallen victim to the no makeup makeup idea now having spent a handful of months in a job that requires that I wear makeup to work every day / do other people’s makeup.

Kinda conflicted about pronouns and wondered about your opinion on it bc I like your opinions. Basically I use sex based pronouns for everybody mainly because most trans people don't pass and that's the pronoun that comes naturally to mind (if I'm trying to be polite I will avoid pronouns entirely or occasionally use they, but it takes a lot of effort to slow your language down no matter what anyone claims! and I cannot call a nonpassing MTF she on principle.) in other words I make little to no conscious effort about pronouns, and take what my brain hands me based on their appearance.
But I notice that for (truly) passing trans people I would be fighting against this natural perception to sex them correctly, like N*kki Tutorials reads as a she for example so I just don't fight it and I call her "she" even though I technically know she's male and if anyone asked me her sex I would say male. To me she's a "male woman" even though that's paradoxical. 🤔 This level of passing is pretty rare though (like H*nter Scafer and whichever one was in Barbie don't even fit this criteria for me.) What do you do? Do you think it's important to make the effort to still use sex based pronouns for truly passing MTF to hold the line against the whole concept of changing sex?
Yeah, I understand the hesitation in calling men who convincingly pass as female “he.” It feels forced. That said, I still do it lmao. It’s like you said, it’s a principle thing. I don’t believe men who pass as women are women. I won’t call a man “she,” even if he’s lucky enough to have delicate features. Wrt nikkitutorials, I didn’t know he was trans until it was revealed (and I side eye anyone who was like “duh, look at him 🙄” he’s just tall) so it’s weird to call him he. But if I think like, “this person is male,” it’s easier. Male doesn’t mean masculine, it just means male. Nikkitutorials is male. Nikkitutorials is a he. Buck angel is a she. These are facts, not subjective interpretation.

if luke put you in charge of choosing the color glitter he wears at his next show what would you pick?
ooh well anon you see i am of course extremely partial to the pink shimmer, especially since he always wears a pink outfit with it like… 🙂↕️

i also think purply tones really suit him so i’d do that too

but also i really enjoyed when nikkitutorials gave him the bronzy orangey shades and the gold from the milky shoot because i have always thought about how much a bronze would make his eyes pop 🤩 and it did!

#ask#anon#i like it all#i would do more of the super dramatic chunky glitter too#putting me in charge of glitter what a concept#do i get to put it on him too pls

Katy Perry and Taylor Swift will make a song about friendship together as if anyone still cares about the beef they had in like 2014.
Joe Rogan will make an episode in his podcast about furries, which will cause a self proclaimed right wing furry to try to convince him that furries aren't that bad, this alone will cause twitter to have a field day but it only gets weirder once fanart rolls in.

Ron DeSantis will go into a whole ass twitter fit about Lizzie McGuire.
Dolly Parton will collab with Ethel Cain.

Nikita Dragun will quit social media.
Addison Rae will collab with Arca.

Oh, wow...Lexi's discovered Drag!
So, disclaimer. I'd heard that drag was a thing before, but it wasn't until the last few years that I actually decided to look into it. I've seen some really cool examples of drag through queer photography that I enjoyed, and kept seeing a few...key mentions. While all of these current examples are about Queens, I support and would love to see more Kings too.
I don't know how exactly I started to find drag, but it was almost certainly through the YouTube algorithm's combination of sewing tutorials and diys, alternative or lgbtq tiktoks, and doll diys/ooaks. I found a very interesting thumbnail. Sims. And a purple...or maybe blue...diva-licious alien.
When I first found Juno Birch, I was mostly curious and a little bit baffled as to how she could achieve such a look, and I was completely taken in by her humor, loudness, and creativity. She was the first drag queen I ever found on my own. From what I did know at that point, Queens were usually men, but didn't have to be, and Kings were less explored even in our own communities. I was surprised to learn Juno Birch was a trans woman, but also pretty excited. I used to love NikkiTutorials and she was my first real exposure to transgender women. The only other drag queen I've found who is not a man (OR a woman, in this case) to start, is someone I found VERY recently: Queen Coke Francis.
(Also: I recommend all three channels! they're all cool. ps. I mentioned their genders because it's not the norm I've seen online so far, regardless of historical records, and each of them are out on their own platforms.)
I didn't begin to explore further until I kept seeing the name "RuPaul's Drag Race" pop up. That was in the last few months, and finding a fashionable, funny, insightful Queen pop up on my feed again is what finally pushed me to start.
And by the graces of every queen and gay ancestor that came before me, I don't regret it. Even if fans of the show have some (probably accurate) criticisms of the show, I have to agree that the concept is what sells it regardless. The creativity, the jokes and references I am admittedly too young to understand but would probably like to look into one day, the personas and the challenges. The looks! The lip syncs. It's just interesting to see the way it all comes together.
I have been to a drag show once before, in my town, at a small venue, with local artists, and not only was it a new experience, but it was also a very entertaining one. I'm super glad I decided to because not only are things a bit...tense...in my state's current political climate in regard to all things lgbtq, but I'd been wanting a real and tangible connection to the local community. While I haven't been to another one since, I will definitely be trying to stay involved in the future.
Ok, why is this ramble relevant. It's probably not but I can do what I want on my blog and it just seemed like a good place to start. I may or may not talk about the seasons, my favorite challenges, or my favorite looks in the future. For now, I'm just having fun with it.
#lexi's post#media and art#rupaul's drag race#well that's the closest thing I can think of for a show mention#lgbtq#personal#reality tv#my fandoms

Remembering the one time I had a Pinterest board labeled “crushes” that was just filled with celebrity pictures I really liked and my littlest cousin saw that there were women on it when she was looking over my shoulder one time.
She just gasped my name, looked at me with these giant brown eyes, and went, “You put girls on there!” Like it had never occurred to her that that could be possible.
#medarants✨#she was probably like ten at the time#raised super reliously#also remember doing her makeup a while back#and her talking about how nikkitutorials is trans and how she didn’t know that trans people could exist!!#but that she loves them!!#and doesn’t like that people are mean to them!!#she literally just#‘i don’t understand why people are so mean to them 🥺’#i miss my little bean so much 🥲

Hi Laura!! If you’re comfortable could you talk about how you got into makeup artistry? I really want to apply to a makeup/beauty school and do maybe like a one year program, but the tuition + kit fee are quite expensive. I don’t know if it’s worth it :/ if you went to school for makeup would you say it’s worth it? Or is this something I can learn by myself/through the internet? Like will it be possible for me to get hired somewhere or am I gonna get laughed at in the interview if I don’t have the education lmaoo also I am talking about like bridal/fashion makeup, and not special effects makeup for film and stuff (even though that would be a super cool career and maybe something i can explore at a later time🤔) thanks love 💜
okay so this is a bit of a ramble i apologise in advance. you don’t need to go to beauty school to be a mua! i haven’t been to beauty school, i’m 50% self-taught and 50% done courses with companies like Estée Lauder, L’Oréal, MAC (these are mostly runway looks and editorial makeup) and I’ve also been to celebrity master classes (if you live in the UK I would 10000% recommend PLouise Academy in Manchester they have the best most informative masterclasses ever, mua mmmmitchell works with them a lot if you look on their TikTok they have some video tutorials too) All you need is a good portfolio, even if it starts as photos of your own makeup or friends makeup you’ve done. It’s so important to take a before shot too (and learn about skin if you’re serious about being in the industry it will give you a good advantage)
As for me I’ve always loved makeup and played around with it ever since I was little but I watched tutorials on yt (specifically Jamie Genevieve, NikkiTutorials and people my age will remember Tanya Burr lmao but she’s inactive now I think) anyways fast forward to 2015 I got rejected from MAC due to lack of experience and I was gutted I cried so much ahah (but they kept my face charts rude) ((ALSO FACE CHARTS ARE AMAZING FOR PRACTISE!!! 10/10 RECOMMEND)) after I was rejected at Mac I was really disheartened but my old hair salon was looking for an mua and offered me a position on a temp basis, using that as experience and building my portfolio I then worked for urban decay on the makeup counter alongside that. A couple years later I decided to take the plunge to go self employed bc the money is so much better and I loved being my own boss (mostly prom, bridal, festival and insta glam is my specialty) ANYWAY then COVID happened and I had to change jobs bc obvs mua weren’t allowed to work. I worked in an office and I hated it so much, now I work at another makeup counter (not sure if I’m allowed to say which one? Idk I won’t risk it) and do self-employed artistry on the side :)
When you’re starting out you put more money into it than you get I’m gonna be 10000% honest with you. But in order to grow and improve you need a good kit, can’t emphasise this enough. I could show you my kit staples if that’s something you’d be interested in though. Anyway sorry for rambling. If you love makeup and you enjoy doing it then I would 100% recommend pursuing it. There’s a lot of money in the industry these days and I’ve been lucky enough to meet some really amazing people doing what I do. I hope this helps angel! You don’t need beauty school! But masterclasses are amazing and usually much much cheaper!! Sorry it’s long!!!

Those young women currently in their late 20's and very early 30s, who were the cool/mean girls in highschool, who are probably married with kids named Brexlynn by now, who probably drive a Toyota Forerunner, who probably have Instagram calligraphy wall art all through their house, who blot out all their facial features with nude color makeup until they look like a personification of the Sahara Desert. No wait, scratch that; the Sahara Desert has more definition and contour than their face. No eyeliner, no mascara, no eye shadow, no contour, ONLY nude lip IF anything. Their skin looks sandy, their eyes don't pop at all. Bleck!
Why? Just why? What happened to the makeup skill you showed in high school that had all the boys after you? If you're lazy, just don't wear makeup. Your natural features would actually stand out MORE if you didn't go ham with the "paint bucket" tool and just stop there. At least add some mascara so your eyes don't blend in with the rest of your facial plains.
(NO hate on NikkiTutorials. I couldn't find an example picture on the internet of what I was talking about, so I took a screenshot of her tutorial just after the foundation/concealer step.)

I know Hazel is 13, can we stop treating her like she’s either 8 or 20?
In counter to the posts that oversexualize Hazel and make her seem significantly older I’ve seen posts talking about her playing with dolls and like stuffed animals
She’s 13
She’s in middle school going through her awkward anime phase, if she’s dating anyone they’re not doing much more than holding hands or quick pecks and it’s all probably awkward, she’s probably just starting to figure out how makeup works, maybe she likes kpop, idk
I find it highly doubtful an 8th grader, almost 9th grader would still be playing with dolls- she’d probably just be getting her first real phone if she was a normal kid
So yes, Hazel is too young to be sexualized, but she’s too old to be playing with dolls still- stop infantilizing her in response to people making her too mature, the opposite extreme isn’t the correct answer
So give her an anime phase, or a kpop phase, or make her really obsessed with Nikkitutorials or something- but don’t put 13 y/o Hazel in sexual situations and don’t make her play with dolls
#Also remember she really loves Nico and goes to him for all the stuff she needs help with and he helps her with homework and stuff because#he's her big brother and he loves her and she loves him because she's his little sister#They watch movies and talk about their day together but they fight too sometimes I'm sure#they're siblings think about how you feel about your siblings#or if you don't have any think about your cousins#you don't like them 100% of the time but you do always love them#Give me Nico doing Hazel's hair and her calling him at 9pm over skype just to talk and give me them teasing eachother slightly about boys#also Nico is 15 almost 16#and people need to stop saying he's 14 and infantilizing him further#pjo fandom get your ages right and how people at those ages act right or just stop#I spelt the wrong faze so reblog this version cuz it's fixed lol

what fandoms are the foxes in?
kevin: exy, hetalia, haikyuu!!, and pokemon. you can’t convince me otherwise. kev gets tumblr because nicky told him that there was a community of exy junkies on there, so kevin was like “my people...” but then when haikyuu!! was a top tag, he wondered what it was, he looked into it, loved it and the volleyball element (he actually tried to play volleyball for a whole week, he wasn’t that good), then wanted to watch more animes, so he found hetalia: axis powers. (he also finds yuri!!! on ice.) pokemon because he thought the cards looked cool, then he got super into the battle element. neil beats him all the time in battles
andrew: this man could not care less. the only thing he remotely likes for entertainment is watch shows like criminal minds and ncis. he likes figuring out who the murderers are, the rush he gets when he’s correct. he usually isn’t, though, since those shows pull the culprits right out of their asses. the irony of andrew liking detective shows is not beyond him, or any of the foxes for that matter. they tease him about it
nicky: anything show with gay representation, mostly. nicky is a total gleek. musical theatre is something he’s getting into (because of glee), so he likes things like heathers and dear even hansen, he even gets kevin obsessed with hamilton for a little bit
renee: she, of course, loves atla, voltron, and she-ra. shows like that. azula reminds her of allison, and she says that many times. one halloween, she actually gets allison to dress as azula so she can be zuko. renee also loves k-dramas (she can be a total romantic sometimes, and they feed this), taylor swift (she finds taylor hot, plus she has some great music), and girls soccer
matt: matt loves minecraft and all the old school youtubers that played it. stampy, popularmmos, dantdm. and then he likes the newer ones since the old ones aren’t playing as much: wilbur soot, callmecarson, those ones. matt just really loves playing minecraft. but!! he’s also a major youtuber (in general) lover, so he gets stuck in holes on youtube (baking videos, dropping my phone from 100ft in a balloon, how to thrift!!)
dan: the vampire diaries is a guilty pleasure. grey’s anatomy, orange is the new black, the good place. mainstream shows like that that are long and she can get invested into. one of her favorite parts are predicting who will end up together. matt watches them with her, but he thinks some of them are garbage. nicky will 100% always be down to watch
aaron: his taste is either so mainstream you want to bleed your eyes out or so obscure that you want to smack him with a pan. for example, he loves friends and the office, but he’ll listen to bands you and your sister have never, ever heard of. they aren’t even a fandom they’re so obscure
allison: renee gets her obsessed with atla, but she’s more lowkey with it. ali loves fashion youtubers (like bestdressed) and makeup youtubers (not the problematic ones, typically she’ll watch nikkitutorials), but she also loves to watch documentaries. oh and, which she will barely tell anyone, she’s super into the old school, classic tumblr shows like supernatural and merlin and sherlock. lorde is an obsession of hers, too
neil: he gets a kick out of cooking shows. seeing them fail and be under pressure is the best. he doesn’t really do anything that involves a fandom. he’ll watch a show, but he won’t get so invested, plus he’s not on his phone that much. when kevin shows him tumblr, neil says, “looks lame.” and that’s that. though, he would love to argue with people on tumblr/twitter. bonus: neil likes kpop, shhhhh
#i can’t stop imagining neil liking kpop#him watching music videos and then trying to do the dances- nrjskakak NOO#do you know how much andrew would make fun of him?????#andrew: ‘i got you a phone...so you could do this. this may be the worst thing i’ve ever done.’#andrew: ‘100038381902938392% josten holy fuck no do not throw it back wtf’#andrew: ‘im taking the cats and moving out. they should not have to see this.’#andrew: ‘how do i return you to the mafia?’#interviewer: ‘what’s neil’s worst quality?’#andrew: ‘he likes kpop’#kevin at the same time: ‘loud mout- what? neil likes-’#sorry kpop stans❤️ andrew does not understand u❤️#neil josten#andrew minyard#andriel#kandriel#kevin day#renee walker#allison reynolds#matt boyd#dan wilds#aaron minyard#nicky hemmick#rallison#aftg#all for the game#tfc#the foxhole court

now I have to ask - what are your favourite makeup and skincare products?
now this is a rabbithole i am delighted to go down, i am simply a whore for skincare and makeup
preface: i have combination skin that's not at all sensitive and i spend too much money on this kind of thing
skincare wise, the chamomile makeup cleaning balm and the cleansing oil from the same collection absolutely SLAP. they're my holy grail makeup remover products. the la roche posay effaclar duo is hyped up for a reason, it's incredible stuff. also a big fan of the pixi glow tonic if we're talking chemical exfoliators. the ordinary has never failed me - currently obsessed with their caffeine eye serum but everything is so affordable and works so well for me (bar the foundation, which is grim)
the summer fridays jetlag mask is pricey but never runs out and is the nicest treat for ur face ever. im usually anti anything with clay or charcoal in it, but i tried the alya skin pink clay mask about six months ago and am already on my second one, it's simply gorgeous.
now i am a big sunscreen gal. im a pale bitch who refuses to age and so i wear spf 50 all year around. the la roche posay anthelios is my forever boo when it comes to sunscreen, but the bioderma photoderm max is a close second.
makeup. oh makeup. if im feeling fancy it's the giorgo armani luminious silk foundation, if im feeling otherwise its any of the foundations from catrice but particularly the true skin foundation at the moment. any cream blush makes my heart flutter, a little - currently using the pixi stick one but i prefer the glossier ones. the coloured liquid liners from kiko are my favourite thing in the world and i am ashamed to say i do own every single colour available. i am not wearing eyeshadow much at the moment but when i do its the nikkitutorials palette from beauty bay. bathe me in it. another thing you can bathe me in is highlighter - one of those products i haven't found my true love of yet but am currently using one from milani i quite like but did break really easily from just like, being used.
i could talk about this all day, i am sorry for this excessive answer
